The climb to 1500
- Your weak areas are the teachable ones. You’re strong at comprehension and reasoning and weaker at rules and procedures. Rules can be learned fast. Comprehension takes years. You already have the harder half.
- Grammar is your single biggest opportunity. Standard English Conventions is 26% of Reading & Writing and one of your two lowest domains, and it’s the most learnable content on the whole test.
- Advanced Math is your biggest math gap, not Algebra. Your Algebra is already decent. Don’t spend the fall reviewing linear equations.
- Your math score may be capped by routing, not ability. Check which Module 2 you land in during week one.
- Retake the PSAT in October 2026 if you want National Merit eligibility. Email your counselor.
Not talent, and not total hours. Two things: consistency (five hours a week for thirty weeks beats twenty hours for six) and error review (practicing without reviewing misses plateaus around 1300, very reliably). The error log is the mechanism that gets you past it.
